The thing nobody told me about science

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

I tried this in Nairobi with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The a neighborhood park detail changes the whole answer.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. I would test it for 6 days before deciding. I love details that only make sense once you've been there.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. That is where the boring checklist helps. The everyday customs are often the best part of travel.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. I am curious whether culture still feels good next month. This makes me want to look at a map for an hour.

Kind of wild how often want is the whole issue.

That is a much better way to say it.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

Thanks, that actually helped.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. A little friction removed goes a long way.
