The small trips habit that changed my lunch break from my winter notes

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 4 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I started this because my first week felt a little stuck, and cities seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 9 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

That last line is excellent. A little friction removed goes a long way. Local context changes everything.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

Big fan of this approach. The 8-minute rule is underrated. This makes me want to look at a map for an hour.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

I would love a follow-up example.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink trips. I would test it for 7 days before deciding.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether trips stayed easy. The Monday morning version is even more interesting.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. The delightful part is easy to underestimate. I love details that only make sense once you've been there.
