Worth reading if you like laptops: Digital camera before coffee
en.wikipedia.org
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. phones got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Gadgets feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. For me it came down to the practice run.

Big fan of this approach. That is where the boring checklist helps. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. I keep a note about phones for exactly this reason. A small test case would make this easier to trust.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. The 3-minute rule is underrated.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. The low-effort version is probably the keeper. A small test case would make this easier to trust.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I am curious whether laptops still feels good next month.
