Today I Learned · by Tola Ibrahim · 2026-09-29

The thing nobody told me about science in real life

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 5 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 2 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I started this because my busy month felt a little stuck, and facts seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. The Monday morning version is even more interesting. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. The surprising constraint is probably the real story.
