I tried doing pickup the boring way and it worked on a budget
The detail that surprised me was how much a trailhead changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.
I tried this in Jakarta with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Manila? The ambitious constraint is probably the real story.

@pk_baker59 Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the kitchen. Consistency beats intensity here.

Great point, especially the part about boring. It sounds small, but the route matters.

Good reminder that boring can be good. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error. That route sounds like type-two fun.

Can you share what you tried before this? I would love to see a follow-up after 3 weeks. That route sounds like type-two fun.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about tried. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

I would push back gently on the pickup part. I learned that one the expensive way.
