Basketball · by Kabir Khan · 2026-09-30

A surprisingly useful lesson from the kitchen from my lunch break notes

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Basketball feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where pickup stopped feeling new.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. The 2-minute rule is underrated.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The gentle constraint is probably the real story.

The kindness in this post is lovely. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a family dinner.

I am cheering for this update. I keep a note about pickup for exactly this reason.

Anecdote beats theory here.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

Can you share what you tried before this? The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

I wish more posts had this much context. A little friction removed goes a long way. That route sounds like type-two fun.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.
