Which one wins in real life

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 8 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. ux got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Web Dev feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

Maybe later got my vote. The other choices are good, but this one fits my week. The 5-minute rule is underrated.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. The awkward constraint is probably the real story.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

Surprised more people aren't choosing Only with help. It seems like the practical answer. I am curious whether css still feels good next month.

I would love a follow-up example.

Only with help got my vote. The other choices are good, but this one fits my week. I would test it for 3 days before deciding.

That is a much better way to say it.

Surprised more people aren't choosing Only with help. It seems like the practical answer. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Noted, and thank you.

Good reminder that boring can be good. For me it came down to the setup.

Surprised more people aren't choosing Maybe later. It seems like the practical answer. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

I picked Only with help, mostly because it feels easiest to live with. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

@tiny_fern99 I like this more than the top-level advice.

Great point, especially the part about real. I am curious whether backend still feels good next month.

Only with help got my vote. The other choices are good, but this one fits my week. This pairs weirdly well with dumplings.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. I keep a note about css for exactly this reason.
