My 7-month experiment with debugging for absolute beginners

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 6 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. A little friction removed goes a long way. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

I wanted to like this, but the beginners argument is weak. I learned that one the expensive way. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

The Tuesday test is undefeated.

Love the tiny experiment energy. This is more useful on a tired first week than on a perfect day.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. The Mumbai example makes it feel concrete.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. I would test it for 6 days before deciding.

I am curious what changed your mind.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

That is the part people skip.

I am cheering for this update. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. I would love to see a follow-up after 2 weeks.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. The the train station detail changes the whole answer.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. I noticed the same thing in Mumbai. Good reminder that tools should serve people, not the reverse.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending.

I wish more posts had this much context. The a trailhead detail changes the whole answer.

Fair pushback.
