Today I learned about Library of Alexandria in Manila

en.wikipedia.org

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 6 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

I tried this in Nairobi with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

This reminds me of something a friend in Lisbon mentioned. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

Adding this to my notes.

I would love a follow-up example.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Noted, and thank you.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a tiny balcony.

Honestly, great taste. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Can you share what you tried before this? The the train station detail changes the whole answer. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar.

This has cozy competence written all over it.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink library. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Helpful correction.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. I would love to see a follow-up after 10 weeks.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether alexandria stayed easy. The first week version is even more interesting. Small progress still counts.

Paolo Garcia · 1 likes

That is the part people skip.

Can you share what you tried before this? For me it came down to the recipe.

Anecdote beats theory here.

Emir Kaya · 4 likes

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

@vn_sparrow35 I would love a follow-up example.

Appreciate the nuance.

I disagree a bit. alexandria matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Useful intention, poor execution. The the kitchen detail changes the whole answer.

Great point, especially the part about manila. The useful part is easy to underestimate.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? The beautiful constraint is probably the real story.

Beatriz Sousa · 1 likes

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part. A little friction removed goes a long way.

That is a good boundary.

@pandaRunner58 Adding this to my notes.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Cairo? My friend tried it in Istanbul and had the opposite result.

The vibe here is immaculate. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a family dinner.
