What would you rather spend a free Saturday doing for absolute beginners

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. maps got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I tried this in Cape Town with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality.

@fernPixel57 Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. I noticed the same thing in Melbourne. History gets easier to understand when you can place it on a street.

Honestly, great taste.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

You just saved me a bad purchase.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Only with help got my vote. The other choices are good, but this one fits my week. The gentle part is easy to underestimate.

I picked Only with help, mostly because it feels easiest to live with. The commute version is even more interesting.
