Notes from a very normal lunch break with Unpopular Opinions

I tried this in Cape Town with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I tried this in São Paulo with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

This is probably obvious to veterans here but it clicked for me only recently. culture got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

The detail that surprised me was how much the library changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy

Love the tiny experiment energy. I keep a note about opinions for exactly this reason

I wanted to like this but the very argument is weak. The Madrid example makes it feel concrete

@lina-24 I was going to disagree but your second sentence got me

That last line is excellent. The social part surprised me too

I appreciate teh honest middle stage, not just teh polished ending. The Lagos example makes it feel concrete

The break angle is what sold me. The practical constraint is probably teh real story

Maya Williams · 3 likes

that is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. I keep a note about food for exactly this reason

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The Cairo example makes it feel concrete

not wrong, but I think this underestimates how diffrent people's constraints are. I learned that one the expensive way

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. Honestly, teh simplest version wins for me
