A tiny story about dumplings, Mumbai and timing after 35 tries
Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.
My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 6 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.
I tried this in Lisbon with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about tiny. I keep a note about kindness for exactly this reason. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The São Paulo example makes it feel concrete.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? This pairs weirdly well with dumplings.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I noticed the same thing in Buenos Aires.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. That is where the boring checklist helps.

@grace-39 That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. My friend tried it in Manila and had the opposite result.

Big fan of this approach. I would test it for 4 days before deciding.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. The social part surprised me too.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. I would test it for 8 days before deciding.

@urban_kabir I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. I am curious whether community still feels good next month.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. The social part surprised me too.

@jisoo-71 I would pin this if I could.
