AI Lab · by Cedar Otter · 2026-10-02
Today I learned about Transformer (deep learning architecture) for absolute beginners

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make AI Lab feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. prompts got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Jakarta? That is where the boring checklist helps.

Honestly, this is a little too vague to be useful. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Good reminder that boring can be good. My only addition is to make the first step visible. Good reminder that tools should serve people, not the reverse.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Honestly, this is a little too vague to be useful. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. I would love to see a follow-up after 7 weeks.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I learned that one the expensive way. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

I disagree a bit. beginners matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. I would write it down before changing anything else.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether beginners stayed easy. I keep a note about tools for exactly this reason. This is exactly the kind of tradeoff teams argue about for weeks.

I am cheering for this update. I would test it for 8 days before deciding.
