A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made without making it complicated

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the routine for a while.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 8 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Anecdote beats theory here.

That is a much better way to say it.

I do not have a strong take, but the mistake detail is useful. For me it came down to the recipe.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

I am curious what changed your mind.

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the library. Small progress still counts.

I think both things can be true.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Adding this to my notes.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether complicated stayed easy. I would test it for 8 days before deciding.

@riverNomad51 Kind of wild how often before is the whole issue.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I would test it for 4 days before deciding.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. It sounds small, but the prototype matters.

The glad angle is what sold me. That is where the boring checklist helps.

You just saved me a bad purchase.

I would push back gently on the making part. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.
