My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 3 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I disagree a bit. beautiful matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.
