A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made for absolute beginners
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. training got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the first draft for a while.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 8 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.
I started this because my weekend felt a little stuck, and pickup seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I would write it down before changing anything else.

@ng_comet I think both things can be true.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

The kindness in this post is lovely. This is more useful on a tired commute than on a perfect day. The best gear is the one that gets used.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. This pairs weirdly well with idli.

That last line is excellent. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. I keep a note about pickup for exactly this reason.
