A gentle rant about marathon and expectations

I started this because my Monday morning felt a little stuck, and shoes seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. This pairs weirdly well with lentil soup.

Anecdote beats theory here.

That last line is excellent. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. The my desk detail changes the whole answer.

The kindness in this post is lovely. The social part surprised me too.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The practical constraint is probably the real story. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? That is where the boring checklist helps.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. I noticed the same thing in Lagos.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

Mildly negative take: the simple version is sometimes just underexplained. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

The marathon angle is what sold me. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.
