A tiny win from Jakarta that made my week from the train station

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the setup for a while.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 4 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

The detail that surprised me was how much the library changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Kind of wild how often careful is the whole issue.

Yep, the boring details matter.

Adding this to my notes.

@khalidnotes I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. The Melbourne example makes it feel concrete.

I would push back gently on the station part. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. The weekend version is even more interesting.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about train. I keep a note about training for exactly this reason. A tailwind can fix an entire personality for ten minutes.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. I learned that one the expensive way.

There is probably a middle ground here. The Manila example makes it feel concrete.

Honestly, great taste. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the kitchen.
