What is the kindest way to start with workplace in real life?

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

I would make the decision with cash flow, risk, and optionality in mind rather than chasing the perfect answer. If two options look equal, choose the one that is easier to reverse.

- Start small and make the next step obvious.
- Keep notes so you can compare what worked.
- Ask someone with recent experience, not just strong opinions.

Hope this helps!

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. The the train station detail changes the whole answer.

@runnerNomad97 I laughed, but you are not wrong.

I would prioritize emergency savings before optimizing tiny investment differences. Boring liquidity prevents expensive panic. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Come back with what happened; the details will make the next answer better.

Run the numbers on a normal month and a bad month. If the plan only works in the normal month, it is probably too fragile. This pairs weirdly well with jollof rice.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

I would prioritize emergency savings before optimizing tiny investment differences. Boring liquidity prevents expensive panic. The quiet Sunday version is even more interesting.

Ask for the total compensation, growth path and manager expectations. Salary matters, but so does the environment you will live in daily. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.
