The small passwords habit that changed my commute for absolute beginners

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. passwords got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 9 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

This is adorable and oddly motivating. I am curious whether privacy still feels good next month.

@solarnotes36 I am curious what changed your mind.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

This. Exactly this.

This is the gentle version of my rant.

Beautifully concise.

Good reminder that boring can be good. The weekend version is even more interesting. Naming things remains undefeated as the hardest problem.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. The a trailhead detail changes the whole answer.

Could be regional too.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. The rainy evening version is even more interesting. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

Useful intention, poor execution. I learned that one the expensive way.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Lisbon? I learned that one the expensive way. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

@maya-39 Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Honestly, great taste. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. I keep a note about infosec for exactly this reason.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

I had the same reaction to agree.

Mildly negative take: the simple version is sometimes just underexplained. That is the kind of detail beginners miss. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

@dev_jan31 Noted, and thank you.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. The rainy evening version is even more interesting.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. It sounds small, but the tiny repair matters.
