Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the prototype for a while.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. My friend tried it in Berlin and had the opposite result. The uncertainty is part of what makes it interesting.
