Can we talk about the underrated side of artists in real life

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 8 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I started this because my winter felt a little stuck, and artists seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. This is more useful on a tired first week than on a perfect day. Sound design deserves more credit.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The social part surprised me too.

You just saved me a bad purchase.

That made the concept click.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. For me it came down to the practice run.

Noted, and thank you.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

Anecdote beats theory here.

That is the part people skip.

Kind of wild how often tracks is the whole issue.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. I noticed the same thing in Seoul.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. The quiet Sunday version is even more interesting.

Good reminder that boring can be good. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Good reminder that boring can be good. The 4-minute rule is underrated.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 6 months. This pairs weirdly well with jollof rice.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

Maya Williams · 2 likes

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

Helpful correction.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I would test it for 5 days before deciding. I love when a recommendation comes with the right mood attached.

Big fan of this approach. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

I wanted to like this, but the real argument is weak.

Can you share what you tried before this? The busy month version is even more interesting.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. The messy constraint is probably the real story.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

Could be regional too.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 8 months. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Toronto? The the kitchen detail changes the whole answer.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated.
