A tiny story about arepas, Buenos Aires and timing for absolute beginners
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.
The detail that surprised me was how much the library changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. strength got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

The kindness in this post is lovely. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. I keep a note about habits for exactly this reason.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the corner shop.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a tiny balcony.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I learned that one the expensive way.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. The social part surprised me too.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. The quiet part is easy to underestimate. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about beginners. This pairs weirdly well with shakshuka. Small progress still counts.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether buenos stayed easy. I would love to see a follow-up after 6 weeks.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I think this advice is overrated. I noticed the same thing in Jakarta.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. I would write it down before changing anything else.
