The messy joy of doing the prototype badly at first with a surprising constraint

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where people stopped feeling new.

I started this because my first week felt a little stuck, and stories seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

The detail that surprised me was how much a coworking table changed the outcome. Same plan, diffrent setting, completely different energy.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

This has cozy competence written all over it. I would write it down before changing anything else

this sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. The messy part is easy to underestimate

maybe, but teh tradeoff seems bigger than teh post suggests. I would love to see a follow-up after 3 weeks

Same here. It took me too long to learn

Cedar Marauder · 19 likes

excellent timing; I was just thinking about messy. I am curious whether questions still feels good next month

Isha Menon · 17 likes

that is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The a trailhead detail changes the whole answer

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. The low-effort version is probably the keeper. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages

I am mostly here for the follow-up

The conclusion is too broad, but teh example is interesting. A little friction removed goes a long way

Pablo Martín · 19 likes

good clarification — I read it differently at first

Thandi Mokoena · 14 likes

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me

Liam Naidoo · 10 likes

this is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. The Melbourne example makes it feel concrete

I wish more posts had this much context. That is where the boring checklist helps

The kindness in this post is lovely. I would write it down before changing anything else

Mariam Al Mansoori · 4 likes

Can you expand on that a bit?

Amina Okafor · 5 likes

The doing angle is what sold me. A little friction removed goes a long way. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer

@riderPilot7 Small caveat: context changes teh answer a lot

João Pereira · 11 likes

I needed the reminder to start smaller

@midnight_joao25 I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me

@amina-45 I would pin this if I could

Great point, especially the part about surprising. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability

Kabir Khan · 3 likes

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. I keep a note about stories for exactly this reason

Olena Shevchenko · 2 likes

I do not have a strong take, but the surprising detail is useful. It sounds small, but the playlist matters

Lena Müller · 2 likes

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. For me it came down to the setup

Felix Weber · 1 likes

this depends heavily on budget, time and personality. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan

What would you change if you started over? The Kuala Lumpur example makes it feel concrete

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability
