The small gear habit that changed my Monday morning

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 4 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I tried this in Warsaw with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. cafes got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

This made me smile more than expected. I noticed the same thing in Warsaw.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. That is where the boring checklist helps.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. This pairs weirdly well with pierogi.

@miguel-63 I am curious what changed your mind.

Anecdote beats theory here.

This made me smile more than expected. I would test it for 9 days before deciding.

That last line is excellent. The cozy part is easy to underestimate.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Appreciate the nuance.

My wallet felt that.

@mango-6390 Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. I keep a note about cafes for exactly this reason. I would absolutely hover near the kitchen for this.

This comment has main-character footnote energy.

Honestly, great taste. This is more useful on a tired weekend than on a perfect day.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. I noticed the same thing in Toronto.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

That is a good boundary.

I do not have a strong take, but the changed detail is useful. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The delightful part is easy to underestimate.

Could be regional too.
