The small recipes habit that changed my rainy evening without making it complicated

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 3 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the recipe for a while.

I started this because my rainy evening felt a little stuck, and ingredients seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I tried this in Dublin with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. My friend tried it in São Paulo and had the opposite result.

Anecdote beats theory here.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. The Kuala Lumpur example makes it feel concrete.

That would annoy me more than it helped. That is where the boring checklist helps.
