Coffee · by Theo Bennett · 2026-10-04

The delightful joy of doing the conversation badly at first from my weekend notes

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

I tried this in Melbourne with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Coffee feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me. A squeeze of lemon would probably wake it up.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink delightful. I noticed the same thing in Mumbai.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

I think both things can be true.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. I keep a note about cafes for exactly this reason.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The 9-minute rule is underrated.
