Web Dev · by Mateo Cruz · 2026-10-04

My favorite low-effort upgrade for performance without making it complicated

The detail that surprised me was how much the library changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Web Dev feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

Great point, especially the part about without. I would love to see a follow-up after 2 weeks.

What would you change if you started over? This is more useful on a tired quiet Sunday than on a perfect day.

That is a much better way to say it.

Anecdote beats theory here.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

The without angle is what sold me. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. For me it came down to the prototype.

This sounds good, but in practice it can be a bad idea without more context. The useful part is easy to underestimate.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

@bianca-36 My wallet felt that.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I noticed the same thing in Melbourne.

The favorite angle is what sold me. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the train station.
