Unpopular Opinions · by Ayesha Khan · 2026-10-04
I tried doing opinions the boring way and it worked that actually stuck
Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. food got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 4 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 2 months.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. The a trailhead detail changes the whole answer.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I wish more posts had this much context. I would love to see a follow-up after 8 weeks. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink worked. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I do not have a strong take, but the tried detail is useful. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I learned that one the expensive way. Glad you shared the messy version too.

Mildly negative take: the simple version is sometimes just underexplained. My only addition is to make the first step visible. Glad you shared the messy version too.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

The conclusion is too broad, but the example is interesting. I keep a note about opinions for exactly this reason.
