Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me. Texture is doing a lot of work here.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. Now I'm hungry, which feels unfair.
