AI Lab · by Tola Ibrahim · 2026-10-05

A surprisingly useful lesson from a coworking table in Cape Town

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 2 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make AI Lab feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

I would push back gently on the useful part. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. This is more useful on a tired weekend than on a perfect day. A small test case would make this easier to trust.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. My friend tried it in Cairo and had the opposite result.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. I learned that one the expensive way. Naming things remains undefeated as the hardest problem.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I am curious whether tools still feels good next month.
