The most surprising part of learning food for absolute beginners

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. culture got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. I keep a note about food for exactly this reason.

Appreciate the nuance.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. I noticed the same thing in Mumbai.

Could be regional too.

Yep, the boring details matter.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. A little friction removed goes a long way. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

I think this advice is overrated. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part. The 9-minute rule is underrated. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. That is where the boring checklist helps. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.
