What I wish I knew before trying study on a budget

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where study stopped feeling new.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 9 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I started this because my Monday morning felt a little stuck, and study seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. My friend tried it in Kuala Lumpur and had the opposite result.

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. This is more useful on a tired Monday morning than on a perfect day.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. The social part surprised me too.

I would pin this if I could.

Adding this to my notes.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. I keep a note about languages for exactly this reason.

There is probably a middle ground here. A little friction removed goes a long way. Public transit stories are secretly sociology stories.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending.

This. Exactly this.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

I think this advice is overrated. My friend tried it in Madrid and had the opposite result.

I would love a follow-up example.

Great point, especially the part about knew. For me it came down to the route.

That is a much better way to say it.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. I would write it down before changing anything else.
