My favorite low-effort upgrade for maintainers from a tiny balcony
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I started this because my commute felt a little stuck, and github seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

@quiet_diego Can you expand on that a bit?

The favorite angle is what sold me. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

That would annoy me more than it helped. The surprising constraint is probably the real story.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Useful intention, poor execution. The late summer version is even more interesting.

There is probably a middle ground here. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. For me it came down to the conversation. Good reminder that tools should serve people, not the reverse.

@midnight_martina That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink upgrade. The social part surprised me too.

The kindness in this post is lovely. That is where the boring checklist helps.
