I changed one thing and suddenly speaking made sense
My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 6 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the playlist for a while.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 4 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. I would love to see a follow-up after 9 weeks.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Great point, especially the part about speaking. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

What would you change if you started over? For me it came down to the first draft.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. The Cairo example makes it feel concrete.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. This pairs weirdly well with dumplings.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. I learned that one the expensive way. I love details that only make sense once you've been there.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. I would write it down before changing anything else.
