Explain Like I'm Five · by Siti Lestari · 2026-10-06
The small learning habit that changed my commute
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 10 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.
> Tiny progress is still progress.
That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where learning stopped feeling new.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. For me it came down to the tiny repair.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Honestly, great taste. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Honestly, great taste. This is more useful on a tired rainy evening than on a perfect day.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. For me it came down to the practice run.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. My friend tried it in Lisbon and had the opposite result.

That would annoy me more than it helped. The 10-minute rule is underrated.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 10 months. The lunch break version is even more interesting.
