What I wish I knew before trying habits without making it complicated
I started this because my late summer felt a little stuck, and health seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 6 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

That last line is excellent. I would test it for 10 days before deciding.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

The kindness in this post is lovely. I am curious whether health still feels good next month.

I would push back gently on the before part. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the library. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

The vibe here is immaculate. That is the kind of detail beginners miss. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I used to overcomplicate this constantly. Glad you shared the messy version too.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether before stayed easy. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

What would you change if you started over? This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 9 months. The social part surprised me too. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

This made me smile more than expected. The 5-minute rule is underrated.

I do not have a strong take, but the complicated detail is useful. The awkward constraint is probably the real story.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. I would love to see a follow-up after 4 weeks.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Can you expand on that a bit?

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part.
