A surprisingly useful lesson from the train station for absolute beginners

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 10 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

I started this because my late summer felt a little stuck, and debt seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. My friend tried it in Manila and had the opposite result.

I would love a follow-up example.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. My only addition is to make the first step visible.
