Board Games · by Aarav Sharma · 2026-10-06

The thing nobody told me about reviews from my winter notes

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Board Games feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

I wish more posts had this much context. The Jakarta example makes it feel concrete. This is why house rules need a constitution.

I would love a follow-up example.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. My only addition is to make the first step visible.
