Can we talk about the underrated side of kids for absolute beginners

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where kids stopped feeling new.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 2 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. kids got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. A little friction removed goes a long way. I needed this reminder today.

Aisha Jacobs · 60 likes

That would annoy me more than it helped. The 3-minute rule is underrated. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Zeynep Demir · 48 likes

I wish more posts had this much context.

Noé Petit · 15 likes

I am cheering for this update. This is more useful on a tired winter than on a perfect day.

Marco Conti · 17 likes

Now I want a spreadsheet.

Valeria López · 5 likes

Could be regional too.

Chloe Davis · 3 likes

Thanks, that actually helped.

Valeria López · 2 likes

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

That made the concept click.

Can you expand on that a bit?

Liam Wilson · 0 likes

I am stealing that phrase.

Aoife Murphy · 1 likes

Beautifully concise.

Emma Tremblay · 0 likes

I am curious what changed your mind.

Rapid Sparrow · 15 likes

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

Maya Williams · 15 likes

The side angle is what sold me. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the train station. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Wanjiku Mwangi · 14 likes

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Ethan Brooks · 14 likes

I am mostly here for the follow-up. My friend tried it in Buenos Aires and had the opposite result.

Thanks, that actually helped.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Faisal Al Saud · 9 likes

Kind of wild how often answer is the whole issue.

Mina Chowdhury · 6 likes

I like this more than the top-level advice.

Grace Parker · 0 likes

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Hugo Martin · 3 likes

Fair pushback.

Rohan Mehta · 12 likes

I am cheering for this update. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Luca Bianchi · 12 likes

Appreciate the nuance.

Luciana Vargas · 11 likes

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 5 months. A little friction removed goes a long way. Small progress still counts.

Sara Ahmed · 11 likes

I disagree a bit. underrated matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations.

Amelia Hughes · 9 likes

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The Cape Town example makes it feel concrete.

Camila Rocha · 8 likes

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. The a neighborhood park detail changes the whole answer.

Sophie Gagnon · 5 likes

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

Tiny Noodle · 8 likes

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether beginners stayed easy.

Chiara Romano · 7 likes

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself.

Mateo Cruz · 7 likes

Can you share what you tried before this? That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Honestly, great taste. I noticed the same thing in Melbourne.

Oussama Alaoui · 5 likes

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. This is more useful on a tired commute than on a perfect day. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Valeria López · 6 likes

That is the part people skip.

Kabir Khan · 0 likes

Adding this to my notes.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

Valeria López · 0 likes

My wallet felt that.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. My only addition is to make the first step visible.
