The thing nobody told me about console on a budget

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the tiny repair for a while.

The kindness in this post is lovely. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a neighborhood park.

I wish more posts had this much context. I keep a note about multiplayer for exactly this reason. I can already hear the menu music.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. The quiet part is easy to underestimate.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. I would test it for 2 days before deciding.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. A little friction removed goes a long way.

That last line is excellent. The surprising constraint is probably the real story.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. The social part surprised me too.
