Can we talk about the underrated side of restaurants after a tiny failure
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the conversation for a while.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 8 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.
The detail that surprised me was how much a family dinner changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

The kindness in this post is lovely. This pairs weirdly well with jollof rice.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Great point, especially the part about tiny. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I would write it down before changing anything else.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. The a neighborhood park detail changes the whole answer.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 4 months. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.
