AI Lab · by Siti Lim · 2026-09-01

I finally understand why AI Lab people care about tools that actually stuck

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 2 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actualy follow through.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. ethics got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I learned that one the expensive way

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. A small test case would make this easier to trust

I like the idea but the setup probably matters a lot. The ambitious constraint is probably the real story

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. I keep a note about prompts for exactly this reason

This made me smile more than expected. The low-effort version is probably the keeper

I think both things can be true

Big fan of this approach. That is where the boring checklist helps

big fan of this approach. The 9-minute rule is underrated

beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. It sounds small, but the first draft matters. Naming things remains undefeated as the hardest problem

do you think this would work in a smaller place than Melbourne? I am curious whether ethics still feels good next month

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. I keep a note about machinelearning for exactly this reason

The understand angle is what sold me. The practical part is easy to underestimate. Good reminder that tools should serve people not the reverse

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. This would have saved me alot of trial and error

that is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The gentle part is easy to underestimate

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather then motivation. The cozy part is easy to underestimate

The vibe here is immaculate. I learned that one the expensive way

Same here. It took me too long to learn

Thanks for making it less intimidating

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? I would write it down before changing anything else

could be regional too

noted, and thank you

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

This made me smile more than expected. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing
