I finally understand why Funny people care about stories before coffee

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 9 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Funny feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

I tried this in Istanbul with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. The busy month version is even more interesting.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. The ambitious constraint is probably the real story.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. The social part surprised me too.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

I think both things can be true.

You just saved me a bad purchase.

I am curious what changed your mind.

@gentle_panda44 Thanks for making it less intimidating.

Beautifully concise.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

Thanks, that actually helped.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

@riderPilot Beautifully concise.

Honestly, great taste. I keep a note about stories for exactly this reason. I needed this reminder today.

I think this advice is overrated. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

The framing feels off to me. Not terrible, just not convincing. A little friction removed goes a long way.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether coffee stayed easy. For me it came down to the prototype.

I am cheering for this update. The useful part is easy to underestimate. Glad you shared the messy version too.

Great point, especially the part about understand. I would love to see a follow-up after 7 weeks.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. This is more useful on a tired rainy evening than on a perfect day. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Honestly, great taste. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Chloe Davis · 1 likes

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. I would test it for 2 days before deciding.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Madrid? A little friction removed goes a long way.

Élodie Favre · 1 likes

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

What would you change if you started over? The beautiful constraint is probably the real story.
