A surprisingly useful lesson from the train station on a budget

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the recipe for a while.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 7 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Good reminder that boring can be good. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a neighborhood park.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. The practical constraint is probably the real story.

The useful angle is what sold me. A little friction removed goes a long way. That final turn energy is unbeatable.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Could be regional too.

I think both things can be true.

Yep, the boring details matter.

The kindness in this post is lovely. A little friction removed goes a long way.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. My friend tried it in Madrid and had the opposite result. I can already hear the menu music.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. I would love to see a follow-up after 9 weeks. Backlog guilt is a shared cultural experience.
