A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made from my first week notes

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 3 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me. This would be a great classroom example.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. My friend tried it in Cape Town and had the opposite result.
