A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made in real life
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I tried this in Cape Town with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the route for a while.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether glad stayed easy. I am curious whether planets still feels good next month. I appreciate when people separate evidence from speculation.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

I had the same reaction to maintenance.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

I am stealing that phrase.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending.

Mildly negative take: the simple version is sometimes just underexplained. I would love to see a follow-up after 10 weeks.
