A surprisingly useful lesson from my desk before coffee

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. pickup got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I tried this in Seoul with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. That is where the boring checklist helps. A tailwind can fix an entire personality for ten minutes.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Thanks, that actually helped.

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error. The best gear is the one that gets used.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? The social part surprised me too. A tailwind can fix an entire personality for ten minutes.

@tiny_urban82 My wallet felt that.

That is a good boundary.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

That is the part people skip.

Appreciate the nuance.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. The cozy part is easy to underestimate.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.
