A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made without making it complicated
I started this because my late summer felt a little stuck, and resume seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. interviews got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Careers feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The busy month version is even more interesting. Optionality is underrated.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

@pixelbakes11 Kind of wild how often optionality is the whole issue.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about glad. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. For me it came down to the playlist.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I would write it down before changing anything else. I would document the agreement in writing.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. The quiet part is easy to underestimate.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The social part surprised me too.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The delightful part is easy to underestimate.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. The chaotic part is easy to underestimate.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Cape Town? The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

I think both things can be true.

This made me smile more than expected. The surprising part is easy to underestimate.

The made angle is what sold me. For me it came down to the first draft.
