A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made with a messy constraint

I tried this in Madrid with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the tiny repair for a while.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. stories got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 7 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I learned that one the expensive way. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

Could be regional too.

I would push back gently on the mistake part. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

What would you change if you started over?

Glad you shared it; small wins count. My friend tried it in Seoul and had the opposite result.
